We live in uncertain times, and designing products & services for an unpredictable future is a key challenge we all face in the HCI community. The conference is a platform to discuss & debate ideas that will help us create a better world and be prepared for such unforeseen disruptions. We welcome everyone associated with the HCI community to join us in celebrating this festival of design and innovation.
As we explore the context of this disruptive new normal, what it means to people, societies, technologists, researchers and designers, there is a need to examine the disruptions as a challenge and an opportunity. The HCI and Design communities in both academia and industry are seeking an innovative competitive edge by investing in mechanisms that enable them to respond to this disruption.
India HCI 2021 will focus and examine the role of design in these uncertain and disrupted norms. The theme is two-faced as we see it; a context where the world is disrupted from what it used to be, the challenges it presents and the evolution of HCI to recognise and address these challenges. We also look at the new normal as a catalyst of change, and what may be the way forward.
We will gather, for the twelth time as India HCI community and the second time in the city of Pune, India, on 18,19,20 of November 2021, to gain deeper insights on design for disruption.
India HCI is the conference for designers, design academicians, students, industry and start-up partners, and others interested in HCI-based design. We encourage them to discuss their insights related to research and practices. We curate exhibitions and demonstrations of exemplary work by industry players showcasing distinct innovations and talents. Students benefit by receiving dedicated mentoring tracks. They interact to find inspiration and guidance from the design experts with extensive experience. In addition, the conference has been successful in terms of engaging stalwarts in the field- both from academia, industry, and consultants as keynote speakers. We share ideas and best practices that have evolved within the industry through panel discussions and industry workshops. In our previous events, we have met the expectations of our participants across different levels without compromising on the quality of the experience that India HCI conferences commit to deliver.
India HCI 2021 is committed to following a stringent blind peer-review process to select content in terms of academic papers, industry reports, presentations, workshops, and thematic courses. Accepted papers will be published in the India HCI 2021 Conference Proceedings, and will be included in the ACM Digital Library. Accepted demos and posters will be made available to the conference attendees digitally. We recommend that prospective authors consult the India HCI 2021 submissions guidelines mentioned in different Calls for Participation. They may also email their queries to track chairs, if needed.
